This is my mother. She left me when I was just 14 years old. I saw her a few times from teenage through the typical college years (although I didn’t have typical college years) and then she passed away before I married or had children. She was a wonderful woman that I know I would talk to her often if she were alive, but I really never got the chance.

The most current entries are things I would tell her and only her ... because they aren’t meant to be heard, just vented (if she were alive). The majority of this blog are letters she wrote to me (and a few to my sisters) during the years that we were apart.

From Toledo Hospital

Dear Betsy,

Thank you for the Get Well card.  I am still in Toledo Hospital.  I only get up to go the the bathroom.  They are trying new medicines on my feet and legs.  I will have to be in a wheel chair when I go home.  I am glad you like your Christmas presents.  Thank your for my plaque.  I have gained lots of weight.  So has Sandy.  She is now on 2 grains of thyroid every day.  She is liking school better now.

Enclosed is a picture Sister Mower sent me and I am passing it on to you.

It is cold and snowy here.  We are to get more snow tonight.

How is school for you and Kirstie?  Sandy has Russian this semester.  I hope you keep up with your good grades.  I am proud of you.  I am glad you are going to Rainbows and liking it.  Is Kirstie interested in joining it when she is 12?  That would be nice.

I am happy you are baby sitting.  Sandy would like to also but she has little business.

Well, I much close.  Remember I love you dearly and miss you.  Take care of yourself and write.

All my love to you,
Your mom
